MiLyfe Terms of Use

Plain-language summary: MiLyfe is a voluntary commons. You sign up because you choose to. You leave whenever you want, taking your data with you. $MLY is a community credit — not an investment, not a financial product, not something MiLyfe sells or guarantees. The platform belongs to the people who run it. We are not a government, a bank, a court, or a company with a stake in your data.

These terms describe the rules of the commons. They are not a typical corporate agreement. Please read them. They are written plainly on purpose.

1. What MiLyfe is

MiLyfe is a digital voluntary commons — an open-source civic platform where people earn weekly credits, govern together, learn, trade, and support one another. Anyone, anywhere can join from day one. There is no fee, no subscription, and no advertising.

MiLyfe is not:

  • A government, state, or legal authority
  • A company whose business model is your data
  • A bank, exchange, or financial institution
  • A court of record, a law firm, a hospital, or a police force

2. Who can use MiLyfe

Anyone in the world. There are no geographic restrictions on signing up. By creating an account, you confirm you are old enough under your local law to enter an agreement, or that a parent or guardian has authorized your use. Children's safety is a core platform principle; features involving minors are gated and handled with extra care.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. Your account and your $MLY balance belong to you. MiLyfe does not lock you in — you can export your data and close your account at any time, at no cost, and with no penalty.

Accounts that violate these terms (for example by harassing others, posting illegal content, or attempting to manipulate the platform's economics) may be suspended or removed. Governance and appeal paths exist inside the platform.

4. $MLY — community credit, not an investment

$MLY is a community credit issued by public, transparent rules within MiLyfe. This section describes its nature precisely, because precision protects you.

What $MLY is:

  • A credit you earn through participation (weekly UBI, quests, contributions)
  • A credit you spend on goods and services inside the commons
  • Voluntarily tradeable peer-to-peer with anyone who consents (cash, goods, labor — anything two people agree on)

What $MLY is NOT:

  • Not an investment. MiLyfe makes no promise that $MLY will increase in value.
  • Not a financial product, security, or regulated instrument issued by MiLyfe.
  • Not something MiLyfe sells, pre-mines for insiders, or allocates to founders or investors.
  • Not custodied by MiLyfe. Your credits are your credits; we do not hold, manage, or insure them as a financial institution.

What MiLyfe does NOT do: MiLyfe does not operate an exchange, does not offer APY/yield/dividends, and does not run a public cash-out booth. If a third party builds a service that accepts and converts $MLY, that third party is the regulated actor, not MiLyfe.

Your local law governs voluntary peer trades. If you voluntarily trade $MLY with another person, you are responsible for understanding and complying with any laws that apply in your jurisdiction. MiLyfe does not make legal representations about peer-to-peer trades in any specific country.

5. Your content

Content you create (posts, proposals, wiki edits, listings, quests) remains yours. By posting it on a platform that shares it with others, you give MiLyfe a license to display and distribute it to other platform members consistent with your visibility settings — nothing beyond that.

You are responsible for what you post. Content that is illegal, harassing, deceptive, or harmful to children is not permitted and will be removed. Detailed content guidelines live in the platform under Community Guidelines.

6. Open source and forks

MiLyfe is open source under AGPL-3.0. Anyone can read the code, run their own instance, and fork it. If you operate a fork, you must publish your changes under AGPL-3.0 (that is what the license requires). The 24 immutable principles (the Oath, anchored in "We the People") travel with every fork and cannot be removed.

7. No warranties

MiLyfe is provided as-is. We build it to be reliable and safe, and we take that seriously — but we do not guarantee that it will always be available, error-free, or that $MLY balances will never be affected by a technical incident. We will be honest with you if something goes wrong.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MiLyfe and its contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to any $MLY balance changes.

9. Governing the commons, not the courts

The platform's internal governance (proposals, votes, the Oath) is not a substitute for legal rights. These terms are supplemented by the laws of wherever you live. Where there is a conflict, applicable law governs.

10. Changes

Material changes to these terms will be documented in the repository and surfaced in the app. Continuing to use the platform after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
